Cable car access is one part of the Hon Thom day
The Hon Thom Cable Car is the access leg from the Sunset Town / An Thoi side to Hon Thom Island. The crossing itself is part of the experience, but we keep the changing ticket prices and service windows in the cable-car guide so this page can stay focused on how the day actually feels after you arrive.
What to do after you reach Hon Thom
Aquatopia Water Park
If water slides are a priority, allow several usable hours rather than treating Aquatopia as a quick add-on after the cable car. Use the Aquatopia Water Park guide for current park hours, ride groups, map and height-rule planning. Families with younger children should use the separate Aquatopia with Kids guide.
Beach time on Hon Thom
Beach time can provide a lower-effort break between the cable car and park attractions, but sea conditions still matter. Do not assume calm water from a brochure photo; check flags and local conditions on the day.
Exotica and scheduled entertainment
Ride availability, shows and scheduled entertainment can change by operating day. Treat them as date-specific rather than promising a fixed performance or attraction sequence in advance.
Before we book the Hon Thom package
Before we book, we recheck the cable-car ticket price, height bands, package inclusions and operating sessions again for the actual travel date. Here we stay focused on the day itself: cable-car access, Aquatopia, Exotica, beach time and dining.
Before payment, recheck the official Sun World booking channel for the exact travel date because promotions, operating sessions and package structure can change.
Dining at Sun World Hon Thom
Food outlets and menus inside the complex can change. If vegetarian, Jain, allergy or child-specific meals matter, check the current options before committing to a meal package. A buffet package is useful only when its serving time fits the activity plan.
How much of the day should Hon Thom take?
- Lighter visit: cable car + some island time. This only makes sense if the service windows leave enough time on Hon Thom.
- Water-park-led visit: cable car + several hours at Aquatopia. Protect the middle of the day rather than adding a long south-island detour.
- Full-complex day: cable car + Aquatopia + Exotica / beach / meal time. This is the cleanest fit when Hon Thom is one of the main reasons for visiting South Phu Quoc.
If a full Hon Thom day is already a priority, compare it with the published 5 Days 4 Nights Phu Quoc Island route only after checking the actual inclusions and pace. If what you really want is a speedboat/island-hopping day rather than a cable-car and water-park day, use our May Rut Island guide as the more relevant comparison. For the wider south-island decision, return to the Phu Quoc travel guide.
How we decide how much time Hon Thom deserves
For us, Hon Thom works best when the cable car, Aquatopia and island time belong to the same planned block. If you only want the cable-car journey, we protect less of the day. If water rides are the reason for going, we let Aquatopia determine the timing. The day feels much better when one priority leads the schedule instead of trying to do everything.
