The Ha Long Cable Car, also known as the Queen Cable Car, crosses Cua Luc Bay between Bai Chay and Sun Hills on Ba Deo, with elevated views across the city side of Ha Long Bay. It works best as a city-side add-on before or after a cruise rather than as a substitute for time on the bay. Families and couples can use it for a high viewpoint over Bai Chay and Cua Luc Bay when the schedule leaves enough time on land.

Where the Queen Cable Car is and how it fits your Ha Long stay
The Queen Cable Car is the city-side aerial connection between Bai Chay and Sun Hills on Ba Deo. Sun World lists the route at about 2.17 km. Use it for a high viewpoint over Cua Luc Bay and Ha Long City, then keep the cruise as the separate bay experience.
The gateway stations
- The Ocean Station: Start in Bai Chay, close to Bai Chay Beach and Dragon Park. This is the more convenient side if you are staying around the main Bai Chay hotel area.
- The Sun Terminal: Arrive on Ba Deo, where the Sun Wheel, Zen Garden and spiritual complex are located. Allow enough time for the return cable car rather than treating every attraction on the hill as compulsory.
Can the cable car fit after a Tuan Chau cruise?
If your cruise uses Tuan Chau port, check the actual disembarkation time and live road route before pairing it with the cable car. Do not plan around one fixed taxi time or INR fare: the journey varies with the terminal, traffic and the pickup point used by your cruise.
The operating hours
- Monday–Friday: 14:00–20:00.
- Saturday–Sunday: 09:00–20:00.
Last checked: 13 October 2026. Sun World reopened the Queen Cable Car after scheduled maintenance on 10 October 2026. Operating hours can still change for maintenance, weather or special programmes, so recheck the official schedule before making a special trip.
CITY + CRUISE FIT
Use the cable car as a land-side add-on before or after embarkation, not as another full-day commitment.
Compare Ha Long Bay cruise options by route, cabin and activity setup first.
Prioritise the bay experience first; add the cable car only if transfer and operating times still leave a comfortable buffer.
Queen Cable Car ticket prices and what the ticket includes
Use the current Sun World ticket information for your travel date rather than assuming one permanent price or promotion. The published 2026 fares below are a planning reference and should be rechecked before travel.

The standard round-trip ticket
The published ticket information can include the cable car together with several Sun Hills attractions. Check the ticket description for your date before assuming every attraction below is included.
- Adults (over 1.4m tall): 380,000 VND (approximately ₹1,300)
- Children (from 1.0m – 1.4m tall): 280,000 VND (approximately ₹960)
- Children under 1.0 m: listed as free in the current published fare guidance.
Check date-specific promotions separately
Sun World may publish temporary promotions for particular dates or visitor groups. Treat those as date-specific offers rather than the standard Queen Cable Car fare, and check the official ticket page for your travel date before budgeting around a promotion.
If you want more than the cable car
- Compare current combinations by date: Dragon Park, Typhoon Water Park and the Queen Cable Car can use separate tickets or time-limited combinations. Check the official ticket list for the date you plan to visit.
- Check add-ons separately: WOW Pass and food or beverage offers can change by programme. Treat them as optional extras only when they are shown for your selected date and ticket type.
What you can do after the cable car reaches Sun Hills
The ticket can include several Sun Hills experiences in addition to the cable-car crossing. Check the current ticket description for your date, then prioritise the attractions that actually fit your available time.
- Sun Wheel: A slower observation ride with elevated views over Ha Long City and the bay-side urban area. Choose it when you still have time after the cable car and want another viewpoint rather than adding it automatically.
- Zen Garden and Koi Bridge: A landscaped area with a red bridge, koi pond and Japanese-inspired garden elements. It suits a slower walk or photo stop if you have spare time after the main viewpoint activities.
- Bao Hai Linh Thong Tu: A spiritual complex on Ba Deo. Visit it as a cultural stop and allow a quieter pace; dress and behave respectfully rather than treating it as another entertainment attraction.
- Wax display and indoor games: Sun World’s 2026 Queen Cable Car–Sun Hills ticket information lists the wax exhibition and first-floor Arcade Zone among the included Sun Hills experiences. Recheck the current ticket description if a specific attraction matters to your visit.
- Samurai Slide: An alpine-coaster-style ride on the hill. Check whether it is operating and included in your selected ticket before planning around it, especially when your land time in Ha Long is limited.
If you are deciding whether the hilltop attractions deserve more of your land time, compare our Sun World Ha Long guide before adding another ticketed stop.
Before you go: timing, food and the return plan
For us, the useful checks are simple: confirm the operating window, decide whether the cable car fits before or after the cruise, then plan food, clothing and the return journey around the actual date rather than a generic schedule.

- Guinness records: Guinness World Records lists the Queen Cable Car cabin capacity at 230 passengers and also records the system for the tallest cable-car tower. Treat these as engineering facts rather than a reason to overload the visit with extra attractions.
- For sunset: check the local sunset time for your travel date and compare it with the current operating window. Leave enough buffer for ticket checks and queues rather than planning around one fixed boarding time copied from another month.
- Food: food outlets and menus can change. If vegetarian, Indian or Jain food is important, confirm the current outlet and ingredients rather than assuming a summit food court can adapt every requirement. The Indian restaurants in Ha Long Bay guide is the better place to plan a full Indian meal.
- If heights make you uncomfortable: the ride is an elevated aerial crossing with wide views over Cua Luc Bay. Decide whether that experience suits your group before buying rather than relying on a cabin-layout assumption from an older guide.
- What to wear: check the current Ha Long weather for your date. The exposed viewpoint can feel different from street level because of wind and time of day, so carry a light layer when the forecast supports it rather than relying on one fixed temperature difference.
If a reliable Indian meal matters after the cable car or cruise, keep the restaurant decision separate from the attraction ticket and use our Indian restaurants in Ha Long Bay guide to choose by location.
A quick comparison: The cable car and the Sun Wheel
These are the two main “view” experiences. Here is how they differ.
| Feature | Queen Cable Car | Sun Wheel |
| Experience | An aerial crossing between Bai Chay and Ba Deo. | A slower observation ride from the hilltop area. |
| Capacity | Guinness World Records lists a 230-passenger cabin capacity. | Smaller observation cabins for up to 6 people. |
| What it adds | The transport itself provides the elevated crossing and city-side views. | Adds another viewpoint after you reach Sun Hills. |
| When we would choose it | When the cable car is already part of the Sun Hills visit. | Only when the group has enough time and wants a second view experience. |
Use the cable car as a city-side add-on after choosing the bay experience
The Queen Cable Car gives you a city-side aerial view over Bai Chay and Cua Luc Bay. It is most useful when you already have land time in Ha Long and want a viewpoint or a Sun Hills visit. Keep it as a land-side add-on rather than a substitute for time on the water when Ha Long Bay itself is the main reason for the trip.
If the cable car is only one part of your Ha Long stay, decide the bay experience first. Compare Ha Long Bay cruise options by route, cabin and activity setup, then use the cable car as a city-side add-on when the timing still works comfortably.
