Rong May Glass Bridge is a paid adventure attraction on the Lai Chau side of O Quy Ho Pass, commonly visited from Sapa but not actually located in Sapa town or Lao Cai Province. We would add it when the glass bridge itself is part of what you want from the mountain-road day—not simply because it appears on a list of Sapa viewpoints.

Current-status check — reviewed 6 October 2026: Lai Chau authorities issued a press statement on 18 September 2026 after reports that the Rong May tourist area had stopped operating. The provincial tourism portal still lists Rong May as a tourism destination, but we would confirm same-day operation directly with the attraction or Lai Chau tourism source before travelling from Sapa. Do not rely on an old opening-hours table.
Where is Rong May Glass Bridge?
The attraction is around the O Quy Ho high-pass area in Lai Chau, roughly 17 km from Sapa according to the Lai Chau tourism portal. The route follows the same mountain corridor used for Silver Waterfall and pass viewpoints, which is why Rong May is often marketed as a “Sapa glass bridge”.
The geographical distinction matters for planning: once you continue beyond the Sapa/Lao Cai side into Lai Chau, road time, attraction status and return timing all need to be considered together.
What is the experience?
Rong May combines a glass-elevator / glass-walk experience with high mountain views and additional adventure activities offered by the wider tourism complex. The provincial tourism portal describes the glass structure at around 2,200 metres above sea level, with transparent walkways extending from the cliff area.
If heights are not something you enjoy, there is little reason to add Rong May just to say you visited it. The O Quy Ho route has scenic value even without the paid glass-bridge complex.
How much do tickets cost?
Lai Chau’s tourism portal currently lists service prices in the range of about 500,000–1,000,000 VND per person for the Rong May tourism area. That range reflects different services/activities rather than one universal bridge ticket.
Because the attraction has multiple adventure products and operational status has recently required clarification, confirm the current bridge admission, child policy and any add-on activity price directly before departure. We would not reuse an old table that mixes elevator, walking path, bungee, zipline and other services as if all prices were permanently fixed.
How much time should you allow?
Rong May requires more time than a roadside viewpoint. You need the drive from Sapa, entry/ticket time, the elevator/bridge experience and the return sector. If you combine it with other O Quy Ho stops, protect a substantial half-day rather than squeezing it into the end of a Fansipan or trekking day.
For a shorter road day, Silver Waterfall plus a main pass viewpoint is simpler. Add Rong May when the adventure attraction genuinely matters to the group.
Who is Rong May best for?
- Travellers who enjoy heights and engineered viewpoints.
- Families/groups where the glass bridge is a shared activity, provided everyone is comfortable with the experience.
- Visitors already planning the O Quy Ho road who are willing to spend more time and money on one paid attraction.
It may be a poor fit for severe fear of heights, some heart/medical conditions, or travellers who mainly want natural landscapes and would rather spend the time at open viewpoints.
Weather matters, but cloud hunting is not guaranteed
Fog and cloud can completely change the view from a high-altitude glass attraction. There is no reliable fixed hour or month that guarantees a “sea of clouds”. Check visibility and short-range weather on the day, especially if the panorama is the main reason you are paying for admission.

How to combine Rong May with O Quy Ho and Silver Waterfall

That sequence is more coherent than travelling from Sapa to each place on separate days. The route should still change when weather, current operation or the group’s pace makes one stop less useful.
Road safety is part of the decision
O Quy Ho is an active mountain road. For most families and mixed-age groups, a car/taxi/private transfer is easier than self-driving. Motorbike use only makes sense for riders who are appropriately licensed, insured and experienced with mountain roads, fog and wet conditions.
Confirm the driver’s waiting arrangement if you plan to spend significant time inside Rong May; an old “round-trip taxi price” does not tell you whether waiting time or the Lai Chau sector is included.
Check operation first, then decide whether the bridge earns the time
Rong May is not an automatic part of every Sapa itinerary. Confirm that it is operating, check the current ticket/service you actually want, then decide whether a glass-bridge adventure adds more value than another mountain viewpoint, Fansipan or extra valley time.
